Song of Solomon 6

  1. 1<pb/><t>Where has your beloved gone,</t> <t>most beautiful of women?</t> <t>Which way did your beloved turn,</t> <t>that we may look for him with you?</t>
  2. 2<t>My beloved has gone down to his garden,</t> <t>to the beds of spices,</t> <t>to browse in the gardens</t> <t>and to gather lilies.</t>
  3. 3<t>I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;</t> <t>he browses among the lilies.</t>
  4. 4<t>You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling,</t> <t>as lovely as Jerusalem,</t> <t>as majestic as troops with banners.</t>
  5. 5<t>Turn your eyes from me;</t> <t>they overwhelm me.</t> <t>Your hair is like a flock of goats</t> <t>descending from Gilead.</t>
  6. 6<t>Your teeth are like a flock of sheep</t> <t>coming up from the washing.</t> <t>Each has its twin,</t> <t>not one of them is missing.</t>
  7. 7<t>Your temples behind your veil</t> <t>are like the halves of a pomegranate.</t>
  8. 8<t>Sixty queens there may be,</t> <t>and eighty concubines,</t> <t>and virgins beyond number;</t>
  9. 9<t>but my dove, my perfect one, is unique,</t> <t>the only daughter of her mother,</t> <t>the favorite of the one who bore her.</t> <t>The young women saw her and called her blessed;</t> <t>the queens and concubines praised her.</t>
  10. 10<t>Who is this that appears like the dawn,</t> <t>fair as the moon, bright as the sun,</t> <t>majestic as the stars in procession?</t>
  11. 11<t>I went down to the grove of nut trees</t> <t>to look at the new growth in the valley,</t> <t>to see if the vines had budded</t> <t>or the pomegranates were in bloom.</t>
  12. 12<t>Before I realized it,</t> <t>my desire set me among the royal chariots of my people.<f>[12]</f></t>
  13. 13<t>Come back, come back, O Shulammite;</t> <t>come back, come back, that we may gaze on you!</t> <t>Why would you gaze on the Shulammite</t> <t>as on the dance of Mahanaim?<f>[13]</f></t>
