Song of Solomon 4

  1. 1<pb/><t>How beautiful you are, my darling!</t> <t>Oh, how beautiful!</t> <t>Your eyes behind your veil are doves.</t> <t>Your hair is like a flock of goats</t> <t>descending from the hills of Gilead.</t>
  2. 2<t>Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn,</t> <t>coming up from the washing.</t> <t>Each has its twin;</t> <t>not one of them is alone.</t>
  3. 3<t>Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon;</t> <t>your mouth is lovely.</t> <t>Your temples behind your veil</t> <t>are like the halves of a pomegranate.</t>
  4. 4<t>Your neck is like the tower of David,</t> <t>built with courses of stone<f>[9]</f>;</t> <t>on it hang a thousand shields,</t> <t>all of them shields of warriors.</t>
  5. 5<t>Your breasts are like two fawns,</t> <t>like twin fawns of a gazelle</t> <t>that browse among the lilies.</t>
  6. 6<t>Until the day breaks</t> <t>and the shadows flee,</t> <t>I will go to the mountain of myrrh</t> <t>and to the hill of incense.</t>
  7. 7<t>You are altogether beautiful, my darling;</t> <t>there is no flaw in you. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>Come with me from Lebanon, my bride,</t> <t>come with me from Lebanon.</t> <t>Descend from the crest of Amana,</t> <t>from the top of Senir, the summit of Hermon,</t> <t>from the lions’ dens</t> <t>and the mountain haunts of leopards.</t>
  9. 9<t>You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride;</t> <t>you have stolen my heart</t> <t>with one glance of your eyes,</t> <t>with one jewel of your necklace.</t>
  10. 10<t>How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride!</t> <t>How much more pleasing is your love than wine,</t> <t>and the fragrance of your perfume</t> <t>more than any spice!</t>
  11. 11<t>Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride;</t> <t>milk and honey are under your tongue.</t> <t>The fragrance of your garments</t> <t>is like the fragrance of Lebanon.</t>
  12. 12<t>You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride;</t> <t>you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.</t>
  13. 13<t>Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates</t> <t>with choice fruits,</t> <t>with henna and nard,</t>
  14. 14<t>nard and saffron,</t> <t>calamus and cinnamon,</t> <t>with every kind of incense tree,</t> <t>with myrrh and aloes</t> <t>and all the finest spices.</t>
  15. 15<t>You are<f>[10]</f> a garden fountain,</t> <t>a well of flowing water</t> <t>streaming down from Lebanon.</t>
  16. 16<t>Awake, north wind,</t> <t>and come, south wind!</t> <t>Blow on my garden,</t> <t>that its fragrance may spread everywhere.</t> <t>Let my beloved come into his garden</t> <t>and taste its choice fruits.</t>
