Song of Solomon 3
- 1<pb/><t>All night long on my bed</t> <t>I looked for the one my heart loves;</t> <t>I looked for him but did not find him.</t>
- 2<t>I will get up now and go about the city,</t> <t>through its streets and squares;</t> <t>I will search for the one my heart loves.</t> <t>So I looked for him but did not find him.</t>
- 3<t>The watchmen found me</t> <t>as they made their rounds in the city.</t> <t>“Have you seen the one my heart loves?”</t>
- 4<t>Scarcely had I passed them</t> <t>when I found the one my heart loves.</t> <t>I held him and would not let him go</t> <t>till I had brought him to my mother’s house,</t> <t>to the room of the one who conceived me.</t>
- 5<t>Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you</t> <t>by the gazelles and by the does of the field:</t> <t>Do not arouse or awaken love</t> <t>until it so desires. <pb/></t>
- 6<t>Who is this coming up from the wilderness</t> <t>like a column of smoke,</t> <t>perfumed with myrrh and incense</t> <t>made from all the spices of the merchant?</t>
- 7<t>Look! It is Solomon’s carriage,</t> <t>escorted by sixty warriors,</t> <t>the noblest of Israel,</t>
- 8<t>all of them wearing the sword,</t> <t>all experienced in battle,</t> <t>each with his sword at his side,</t> <t>prepared for the terrors of the night.</t>
- 9<t>King Solomon made for himself the carriage;</t> <t>he made it of wood from Lebanon.</t>
- 10<t>Its posts he made of silver,</t> <t>its base of gold.</t> <t>Its seat was upholstered with purple,</t> <t>its interior inlaid with love.</t> <t>Daughters of Jerusalem,</t>
- 11<t>come out,</t> <t>and look, you daughters of Zion.</t> <t>Look<f>[8]</f> on King Solomon wearing a crown,</t> <t>the crown with which his mother crowned him</t> <t>on the day of his wedding,</t> <t>the day his heart rejoiced.</t>
