Psalms 90

  1. 1<pb/><e>A prayer of Moses the man of God.</e> <pb/><t>Lord, you have been our dwelling place</t> <t>throughout all generations.</t>
  2. 2<t>Before the mountains were born</t> <t>or you brought forth the whole world,</t> <t>from everlasting to everlasting you are God. <pb/></t>
  3. 3<t>You turn people back to dust,</t> <t>saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”</t>
  4. 4<t>A thousand years in your sight</t> <t>are like a day that has just gone by,</t> <t>or like a watch in the night.</t>
  5. 5<t>Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—</t> <t>they are like the new grass of the morning:</t>
  6. 6<t>In the morning it springs up new,</t> <t>but by evening it is dry and withered. <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>We are consumed by your anger</t> <t>and terrified by your indignation.</t>
  8. 8<t>You have set our iniquities before you,</t> <t>our secret sins in the light of your presence.</t>
  9. 9<t>All our days pass away under your wrath;</t> <t>we finish our years with a moan.</t>
  10. 10<t>Our days may come to seventy years,</t> <t>or eighty, if our strength endures;</t> <t>yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,</t> <t>for they quickly pass, and we fly away.</t>
  11. 11<t>If only we knew the power of your anger!</t> <t>Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.</t>
  12. 12<t>Teach us to number our days,</t> <t>that we may gain a heart of wisdom. <pb/></t>
  13. 13<t>Relent, LORD! How long will it be?</t> <t>Have compassion on your servants.</t>
  14. 14<t>Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,</t> <t>that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.</t>
  15. 15<t>Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,</t> <t>for as many years as we have seen trouble.</t>
  16. 16<t>May your deeds be shown to your servants,</t> <t>your splendor to their children. <pb/></t>
  17. 17<t>May the favor<f>[175]</f> of the Lord our God rest on us;</t> <t>establish the work of our hands for us—</t> <t>yes, establish the work of our hands.</t>
