Psalms 9
- 1<pb/><e>For the director of music. To the tune of “The Death of the Son.” A psalm of David.</e> <pb/><t>I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;</t> <t>I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.</t>
- 2<t>I will be glad and rejoice in you;</t> <t>I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>My enemies turn back;</t> <t>they stumble and perish before you.</t>
- 4<t>For you have upheld my right and my cause,</t> <t>sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.</t>
- 5<t>You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;</t> <t>you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.</t>
- 6<t>Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies,</t> <t>you have uprooted their cities;</t> <t>even the memory of them has perished. <pb/></t>
- 7<t>The LORD reigns forever;</t> <t>he has established his throne for judgment.</t>
- 8<t>He rules the world in righteousness</t> <t>and judges the peoples with equity.</t>
- 9<t>The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,</t> <t>a stronghold in times of trouble.</t>
- 10<t>Those who know your name trust in you,</t> <t>for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. <pb/></t>
- 11<t>Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion;</t> <t>proclaim among the nations what he has done.</t>
- 12<t>For he who avenges blood remembers;</t> <t>he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted. <pb/></t>
- 13<t>LORD, see how my enemies persecute me!</t> <t>Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,</t>
- 14<t>that I may declare your praises</t> <t>in the gates of Daughter Zion,</t> <t>and there rejoice in your salvation. <pb/></t>
- 15<t>The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug;</t> <t>their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.</t>
- 16<t>The LORD is known by his acts of justice;</t> <t>the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.<f>[18]</f></t>
- 17<t>The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,</t> <t>all the nations that forget God.</t>
- 18<t>But God will never forget the needy;</t> <t>the hope of the afflicted will never perish. <pb/></t>
- 19<t>Arise, LORD, do not let mortals triumph;</t> <t>let the nations be judged in your presence.</t>
- 20<t>Strike them with terror, LORD;</t> <t>let the nations know they are only mortal.</t>
