Psalms 7
- 1<pb/><e>A shiggaion</e><f>[8]</f> of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite. <pb/><t>LORD my God, I take refuge in you;</t> <t>save and deliver me from all who pursue me,</t>
- 2<t>or they will tear me apart like a lion</t> <t>and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>LORD my God, if I have done this</t> <t>and there is guilt on my hands—</t>
- 4<t>if I have repaid my ally with evil</t> <t>or without cause have robbed my foe—</t>
- 5<t>then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;</t> <t>let him trample my life to the ground</t> <t>and make me sleep in the dust.<f>[9]</f> <pb/></t>
- 6<t>Arise, LORD, in your anger;</t> <t>rise up against the rage of my enemies.</t> <t>Awake, my God; decree justice.</t>
- 7<t>Let the assembled peoples gather around you,</t> <t>while you sit enthroned over them on high.</t>
- 8<t>Let the LORD judge the peoples.</t> <t>Vindicate me, LORD, according to my righteousness,</t> <t>according to my integrity, O Most High.</t>
- 9<t>Bring to an end the violence of the wicked</t> <t>and make the righteous secure—</t> <t>you, the righteous God</t> <t>who probes minds and hearts. <pb/></t>
- 10<t>My shield<f>[10]</f> is God Most High,</t> <t>who saves the upright in heart.</t>
- 11<t>God is a righteous judge,</t> <t>a God who displays his wrath every day.</t>
- 12<t>If he does not relent,</t> <t>he<f>[11]</f> will sharpen his sword;</t> <t>he will bend and string his bow.</t>
- 13<t>He has prepared his deadly weapons;</t> <t>he makes ready his flaming arrows. <pb/></t>
- 14<t>Whoever is pregnant with evil</t> <t>conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.</t>
- 15<t>Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out</t> <t>falls into the pit they have made.</t>
- 16<t>The trouble they cause recoils on them;</t> <t>their violence comes down on their own heads. <pb/></t>
- 17<t>I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness;</t> <t>I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.</t>
