Psalms 33

  1. 1<pb/><t>Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous;</t> <t>it is fitting for the upright to praise him.</t>
  2. 2<t>Praise the LORD with the harp;</t> <t>make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.</t>
  3. 3<t>Sing to him a new song;</t> <t>play skillfully, and shout for joy. <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>For the word of the LORD is right and true;</t> <t>he is faithful in all he does.</t>
  5. 5<t>The LORD loves righteousness and justice;</t> <t>the earth is full of his unfailing love. <pb/></t>
  6. 6<t>By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,</t> <t>their starry host by the breath of his mouth.</t>
  7. 7<t>He gathers the waters of the sea into jars<f>[53]</f>;</t> <t>he puts the deep into storehouses.</t>
  8. 8<t>Let all the earth fear the LORD;</t> <t>let all the people of the world revere him.</t>
  9. 9<t>For he spoke, and it came to be;</t> <t>he commanded, and it stood firm. <pb/></t>
  10. 10<t>The LORD foils the plans of the nations;</t> <t>he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.</t>
  11. 11<t>But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever,</t> <t>the purposes of his heart through all generations. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,</t> <t>the people he chose for his inheritance.</t>
  13. 13<t>From heaven the LORD looks down</t> <t>and sees all mankind;</t>
  14. 14<t>from his dwelling place he watches</t> <t>all who live on earth—</t>
  15. 15<t>he who forms the hearts of all,</t> <t>who considers everything they do. <pb/></t>
  16. 16<t>No king is saved by the size of his army;</t> <t>no warrior escapes by his great strength.</t>
  17. 17<t>A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;</t> <t>despite all its great strength it cannot save.</t>
  18. 18<t>But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,</t> <t>on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,</t>
  19. 19<t>to deliver them from death</t> <t>and keep them alive in famine. <pb/></t>
  20. 20<t>We wait in hope for the LORD;</t> <t>he is our help and our shield.</t>
  21. 21<t>In him our hearts rejoice,</t> <t>for we trust in his holy name.</t>
  22. 22<t>May your unfailing love be with us, LORD,</t> <t>even as we put our hope in you.</t>
