Psalms 27
- 1<pb/><e>Of David.</e> <pb/><t>The LORD is my light and my salvation—</t> <t>whom shall I fear?</t> <t>The LORD is the stronghold of my life—</t> <t>of whom shall I be afraid? <pb/></t>
- 2<t>When the wicked advance against me</t> <t>to devour<f>[44]</f> me,</t> <t>it is my enemies and my foes</t> <t>who will stumble and fall.</t>
- 3<t>Though an army besiege me,</t> <t>my heart will not fear;</t> <t>though war break out against me,</t> <t>even then I will be confident. <pb/></t>
- 4<t>One thing I ask from the LORD,</t> <t>this only do I seek:</t> <t>that I may dwell in the house of the LORD</t> <t>all the days of my life,</t> <t>to gaze on the beauty of the LORD</t> <t>and to seek him in his temple.</t>
- 5<t>For in the day of trouble</t> <t>he will keep me safe in his dwelling;</t> <t>he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent</t> <t>and set me high upon a rock. <pb/></t>
- 6<t>Then my head will be exalted</t> <t>above the enemies who surround me;</t> <t>at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;</t> <t>I will sing and make music to the LORD. <pb/></t>
- 7<t>Hear my voice when I call, LORD;</t> <t>be merciful to me and answer me.</t>
- 8<t>My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”</t> <t>Your face, LORD, I will seek.</t>
- 9<t>Do not hide your face from me,</t> <t>do not turn your servant away in anger;</t> <t>you have been my helper.</t> <t>Do not reject me or forsake me,</t> <t>God my Savior.</t>
- 10<t>Though my father and mother forsake me,</t> <t>the LORD will receive me.</t>
- 11<t>Teach me your way, LORD;</t> <t>lead me in a straight path</t> <t>because of my oppressors.</t>
- 12<t>Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,</t> <t>for false witnesses rise up against me,</t> <t>spouting malicious accusations. <pb/></t>
- 13<t>I remain confident of this:</t> <t>I will see the goodness of the LORD</t> <t>in the land of the living.</t>
- 14<t>Wait for the LORD;</t> <t>be strong and take heart</t> <t>and wait for the LORD.</t>
