Psalms 21
- 1<pb/><e>For the director of music. A psalm of David.</e> <pb/><t>The king rejoices in your strength, LORD.</t> <t>How great is his joy in the victories you give! <pb/></t>
- 2<t>You have granted him his heart’s desire</t> <t>and have not withheld the request of his lips.<f>[32]</f></t>
- 3<t>You came to greet him with rich blessings</t> <t>and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.</t>
- 4<t>He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—</t> <t>length of days, for ever and ever.</t>
- 5<t>Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;</t> <t>you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.</t>
- 6<t>Surely you have granted him unending blessings</t> <t>and made him glad with the joy of your presence.</t>
- 7<t>For the king trusts in the LORD;</t> <t>through the unfailing love of the Most High</t> <t>he will not be shaken. <pb/></t>
- 8<t>Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies;</t> <t>your right hand will seize your foes.</t>
- 9<t>When you appear for battle,</t> <t>you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.</t> <t>The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath,</t> <t>and his fire will consume them.</t>
- 10<t>You will destroy their descendants from the earth,</t> <t>their posterity from mankind.</t>
- 11<t>Though they plot evil against you</t> <t>and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.</t>
- 12<t>You will make them turn their backs</t> <t>when you aim at them with drawn bow. <pb/></t>
- 13<t>Be exalted in your strength, LORD;</t> <t>we will sing and praise your might.</t>
