Psalms 2
- 1<pb/><t>Why do the nations conspire<f>[1]</f></t> <t>and the peoples plot in vain?</t>
- 2<t>The kings of the earth rise up</t> <t>and the rulers band together</t> <t>against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,</t>
- 3<t>“Let us break their chains</t> <t>and throw off their shackles.” <pb/></t>
- 4<t>The One enthroned in heaven laughs;</t> <t>the Lord scoffs at them.</t>
- 5<t>He rebukes them in his anger</t> <t>and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,</t>
- 6<t>“I have installed my king</t> <t>on Zion, my holy mountain.”</t>
- 7<pb/>I will proclaim the LORD’s decree: <pb/><t>He said to me, “You are my son;</t> <t>today I have become your father.</t>
- 8<t>Ask me,</t> <t>and I will make the nations your inheritance,</t> <t>the ends of the earth your possession.</t>
- 9<t>You will break them with a rod of iron<f>[2]</f>;</t> <t>you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” <pb/></t>
- 10<t>Therefore, you kings, be wise;</t> <t>be warned, you rulers of the earth.</t>
- 11<t>Serve the LORD with fear</t> <t>and celebrate his rule with trembling.</t>
- 12<t>Kiss his son, or he will be angry</t> <t>and your way will lead to your destruction,</t> <t>for his wrath can flare up in a moment.</t> <t>Blessed are all who take refuge in him.</t>
