Psalms 142
- 1<pb/><e>A maskil</e><f>[222]</f> of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer. <pb/><t>I cry aloud to the LORD;</t> <t>I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.</t>
- 2<t>I pour out before him my complaint;</t> <t>before him I tell my trouble. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>When my spirit grows faint within me,</t> <t>it is you who watch over my way.</t> <t>In the path where I walk</t> <t>people have hidden a snare for me.</t>
- 4<t>Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;</t> <t>no one is concerned for me.</t> <t>I have no refuge;</t> <t>no one cares for my life. <pb/></t>
- 5<t>I cry to you, LORD;</t> <t>I say, “You are my refuge,</t> <t>my portion in the land of the living.” <pb/></t>
- 6<t>Listen to my cry,</t> <t>for I am in desperate need;</t> <t>rescue me from those who pursue me,</t> <t>for they are too strong for me.</t>
- 7<t>Set me free from my prison,</t> <t>that I may praise your name.</t> <t>Then the righteous will gather about me</t> <t>because of your goodness to me.</t>
