Psalms 105
- 1<pb/><t>Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;</t> <t>make known among the nations what he has done.</t>
- 2<t>Sing to him, sing praise to him;</t> <t>tell of all his wonderful acts.</t>
- 3<t>Glory in his holy name;</t> <t>let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.</t>
- 4<t>Look to the LORD and his strength;</t> <t>seek his face always. <pb/></t>
- 5<t>Remember the wonders he has done,</t> <t>his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,</t>
- 6<t>you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,</t> <t>his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.</t>
- 7<t>He is the LORD our God;</t> <t>his judgments are in all the earth. <pb/></t>
- 8<t>He remembers his covenant forever,</t> <t>the promise he made, for a thousand generations,</t>
- 9<t>the covenant he made with Abraham,</t> <t>the oath he swore to Isaac.</t>
- 10<t>He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,</t> <t>to Israel as an everlasting covenant:</t>
- 11<t>“To you I will give the land of Canaan</t> <t>as the portion you will inherit.” <pb/></t>
- 12<t>When they were but few in number,</t> <t>few indeed, and strangers in it,</t>
- 13<t>they wandered from nation to nation,</t> <t>from one kingdom to another.</t>
- 14<t>He allowed no one to oppress them;</t> <t>for their sake he rebuked kings:</t>
- 15<t>“Do not touch my anointed ones;</t> <t>do my prophets no harm.” <pb/></t>
- 16<t>He called down famine on the land</t> <t>and destroyed all their supplies of food;</t>
- 17<t>and he sent a man before them—</t> <t>Joseph, sold as a slave.</t>
- 18<t>They bruised his feet with shackles,</t> <t>his neck was put in irons,</t>
- 19<t>till what he foretold came to pass,</t> <t>till the word of the LORD proved him true.</t>
- 20<t>The king sent and released him,</t> <t>the ruler of peoples set him free.</t>
- 21<t>He made him master of his household,</t> <t>ruler over all he possessed,</t>
- 22<t>to instruct his princes as he pleased</t> <t>and teach his elders wisdom. <pb/></t>
- 23<t>Then Israel entered Egypt;</t> <t>Jacob resided as a foreigner in the land of Ham.</t>
- 24<t>The LORD made his people very fruitful;</t> <t>he made them too numerous for their foes,</t>
- 25<t>whose hearts he turned to hate his people,</t> <t>to conspire against his servants.</t>
- 26<t>He sent Moses his servant,</t> <t>and Aaron, whom he had chosen.</t>
- 27<t>They performed his signs among them,</t> <t>his wonders in the land of Ham.</t>
- 28<t>He sent darkness and made the land dark—</t> <t>for had they not rebelled against his words?</t>
- 29<t>He turned their waters into blood,</t> <t>causing their fish to die.</t>
- 30<t>Their land teemed with frogs,</t> <t>which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.</t>
- 31<t>He spoke, and there came swarms of flies,</t> <t>and gnats throughout their country.</t>
- 32<t>He turned their rain into hail,</t> <t>with lightning throughout their land;</t>
- 33<t>he struck down their vines and fig trees</t> <t>and shattered the trees of their country.</t>
- 34<t>He spoke, and the locusts came,</t> <t>grasshoppers without number;</t>
- 35<t>they ate up every green thing in their land,</t> <t>ate up the produce of their soil.</t>
- 36<t>Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land,</t> <t>the firstfruits of all their manhood.</t>
- 37<t>He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,</t> <t>and from among their tribes no one faltered.</t>
- 38<t>Egypt was glad when they left,</t> <t>because dread of Israel had fallen on them. <pb/></t>
- 39<t>He spread out a cloud as a covering,</t> <t>and a fire to give light at night.</t>
- 40<t>They asked, and he brought them quail;</t> <t>he fed them well with the bread of heaven.</t>
- 41<t>He opened the rock, and water gushed out;</t> <t>it flowed like a river in the desert. <pb/></t>
- 42<t>For he remembered his holy promise</t> <t>given to his servant Abraham.</t>
- 43<t>He brought out his people with rejoicing,</t> <t>his chosen ones with shouts of joy;</t>
- 44<t>he gave them the lands of the nations,</t> <t>and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—</t>
- 45<t>that they might keep his precepts</t> <t>and observe his laws. <pb/>Praise the LORD.<f>[188]</f></t>
