Psalms 104

  1. 1<pb/><t>Praise the LORD, my soul. <pb/>LORD my God, you are very great;</t> <t>you are clothed with splendor and majesty. <pb/></t>
  2. 2<t>The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment;</t> <t>he stretches out the heavens like a tent</t>
  3. 3<t>and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.</t> <t>He makes the clouds his chariot</t> <t>and rides on the wings of the wind.</t>
  4. 4<t>He makes winds his messengers,<f>[186]</f></t> <t>flames of fire his servants. <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>He set the earth on its foundations;</t> <t>it can never be moved.</t>
  6. 6<t>You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;</t> <t>the waters stood above the mountains.</t>
  7. 7<t>But at your rebuke the waters fled,</t> <t>at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;</t>
  8. 8<t>they flowed over the mountains,</t> <t>they went down into the valleys,</t> <t>to the place you assigned for them.</t>
  9. 9<t>You set a boundary they cannot cross;</t> <t>never again will they cover the earth. <pb/></t>
  10. 10<t>He makes springs pour water into the ravines;</t> <t>it flows between the mountains.</t>
  11. 11<t>They give water to all the beasts of the field;</t> <t>the wild donkeys quench their thirst.</t>
  12. 12<t>The birds of the sky nest by the waters;</t> <t>they sing among the branches.</t>
  13. 13<t>He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;</t> <t>the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.</t>
  14. 14<t>He makes grass grow for the cattle,</t> <t>and plants for people to cultivate—</t> <t>bringing forth food from the earth:</t>
  15. 15<t>wine that gladdens human hearts,</t> <t>oil to make their faces shine,</t> <t>and bread that sustains their hearts.</t>
  16. 16<t>The trees of the LORD are well watered,</t> <t>the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.</t>
  17. 17<t>There the birds make their nests;</t> <t>the stork has its home in the junipers.</t>
  18. 18<t>The high mountains belong to the wild goats;</t> <t>the crags are a refuge for the hyrax. <pb/></t>
  19. 19<t>He made the moon to mark the seasons,</t> <t>and the sun knows when to go down.</t>
  20. 20<t>You bring darkness, it becomes night,</t> <t>and all the beasts of the forest prowl.</t>
  21. 21<t>The lions roar for their prey</t> <t>and seek their food from God.</t>
  22. 22<t>The sun rises, and they steal away;</t> <t>they return and lie down in their dens.</t>
  23. 23<t>Then people go out to their work,</t> <t>to their labor until evening. <pb/></t>
  24. 24<t>How many are your works, LORD!</t> <t>In wisdom you made them all;</t> <t>the earth is full of your creatures.</t>
  25. 25<t>There is the sea, vast and spacious,</t> <t>teeming with creatures beyond number—</t> <t>living things both large and small.</t>
  26. 26<t>There the ships go to and fro,</t> <t>and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. <pb/></t>
  27. 27<t>All creatures look to you</t> <t>to give them their food at the proper time.</t>
  28. 28<t>When you give it to them,</t> <t>they gather it up;</t> <t>when you open your hand,</t> <t>they are satisfied with good things.</t>
  29. 29<t>When you hide your face,</t> <t>they are terrified;</t> <t>when you take away their breath,</t> <t>they die and return to the dust.</t>
  30. 30<t>When you send your Spirit,</t> <t>they are created,</t> <t>and you renew the face of the ground. <pb/></t>
  31. 31<t>May the glory of the LORD endure forever;</t> <t>may the LORD rejoice in his works—</t>
  32. 32<t>he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,</t> <t>who touches the mountains, and they smoke. <pb/></t>
  33. 33<t>I will sing to the LORD all my life;</t> <t>I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.</t>
  34. 34<t>May my meditation be pleasing to him,</t> <t>as I rejoice in the LORD.</t>
  35. 35<t>But may sinners vanish from the earth</t> <t>and the wicked be no more. <pb/>Praise the LORD, my soul. <pb/>Praise the LORD.<f>[187]</f></t>
