Psalms 102
- 1<pb/><e>A prayer of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament before the LORD.</e> <pb/><t>Hear my prayer, LORD;</t> <t>let my cry for help come to you.</t>
- 2<t>Do not hide your face from me</t> <t>when I am in distress.</t> <t>Turn your ear to me;</t> <t>when I call, answer me quickly. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>For my days vanish like smoke;</t> <t>my bones burn like glowing embers.</t>
- 4<t>My heart is blighted and withered like grass;</t> <t>I forget to eat my food.</t>
- 5<t>In my distress I groan aloud</t> <t>and am reduced to skin and bones.</t>
- 6<t>I am like a desert owl,</t> <t>like an owl among the ruins.</t>
- 7<t>I lie awake; I have become</t> <t>like a bird alone on a roof.</t>
- 8<t>All day long my enemies taunt me;</t> <t>those who rail against me use my name as a curse.</t>
- 9<t>For I eat ashes as my food</t> <t>and mingle my drink with tears</t>
- 10<t>because of your great wrath,</t> <t>for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.</t>
- 11<t>My days are like the evening shadow;</t> <t>I wither away like grass. <pb/></t>
- 12<t>But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever;</t> <t>your renown endures through all generations.</t>
- 13<t>You will arise and have compassion on Zion,</t> <t>for it is time to show favor to her;</t> <t>the appointed time has come.</t>
- 14<t>For her stones are dear to your servants;</t> <t>her very dust moves them to pity.</t>
- 15<t>The nations will fear the name of the LORD,</t> <t>all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.</t>
- 16<t>For the LORD will rebuild Zion</t> <t>and appear in his glory.</t>
- 17<t>He will respond to the prayer of the destitute;</t> <t>he will not despise their plea. <pb/></t>
- 18<t>Let this be written for a future generation,</t> <t>that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:</t>
- 19<t>“The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high,</t> <t>from heaven he viewed the earth,</t>
- 20<t>to hear the groans of the prisoners</t> <t>and release those condemned to death.”</t>
- 21<t>So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion</t> <t>and his praise in Jerusalem</t>
- 22<t>when the peoples and the kingdoms</t> <t>assemble to worship the LORD. <pb/></t>
- 23<t>In the course of my life<f>[185]</f> he broke my strength;</t> <t>he cut short my days.</t>
- 24<t>So I said:</t> <t>“Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days;</t> <t>your years go on through all generations.</t>
- 25<t>In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth,</t> <t>and the heavens are the work of your hands.</t>
- 26<t>They will perish, but you remain;</t> <t>they will all wear out like a garment.</t> <t>Like clothing you will change them</t> <t>and they will be discarded.</t>
- 27<t>But you remain the same,</t> <t>and your years will never end.</t>
- 28<t>The children of your servants will live in your presence;</t> <t>their descendants will be established before you.”</t>
