Proverbs 15

  1. 1<pb/><t>A gentle answer turns away wrath,</t> <t>but a harsh word stirs up anger. <pb/></t>
  2. 2<t>The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge,</t> <t>but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. <pb/></t>
  3. 3<t>The eyes of the LORD are everywhere,</t> <t>keeping watch on the wicked and the good. <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>The soothing tongue is a tree of life,</t> <t>but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,</t> <t>but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. <pb/></t>
  6. 6<t>The house of the righteous contains great treasure,</t> <t>but the income of the wicked brings ruin. <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>The lips of the wise spread knowledge,</t> <t>but the hearts of fools are not upright. <pb/></t>

  10. 10<t>Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path;</t> <t>the one who hates correction will die. <pb/></t>

  12. 12<t>Mockers resent correction,</t> <t>so they avoid the wise. <pb/></t>
  13. 13<t>A happy heart makes the face cheerful,</t> <t>but heartache crushes the spirit. <pb/></t>
  14. 14<t>The discerning heart seeks knowledge,</t> <t>but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. <pb/></t>
  15. 15<t>All the days of the oppressed are wretched,</t> <t>but the cheerful heart has a continual feast. <pb/></t>
  16. 16<t>Better a little with the fear of the LORD</t> <t>than great wealth with turmoil. <pb/></t>
  17. 17<t>Better a small serving of vegetables with love</t> <t>than a fattened calf with hatred. <pb/></t>
  18. 18<t>A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict,</t> <t>but the one who is patient calms a quarrel. <pb/></t>
  19. 19<t>The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns,</t> <t>but the path of the upright is a highway. <pb/></t>
  20. 20<t>A wise son brings joy to his father,</t> <t>but a foolish man despises his mother. <pb/></t>
  21. 21<t>Folly brings joy to one who has no sense,</t> <t>but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course. <pb/></t>
  22. 22<t>Plans fail for lack of counsel,</t> <t>but with many advisers they succeed. <pb/></t>
  23. 23<t>A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—</t> <t>and how good is a timely word! <pb/></t>
  24. 24<t>The path of life leads upward for the prudent</t> <t>to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead. <pb/></t>
  25. 25<t>The LORD tears down the house of the proud,</t> <t>but he sets the widow’s boundary stones in place. <pb/></t>
  26. 26<t>The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked,</t> <t>but gracious words are pure in his sight. <pb/></t>
  27. 27<t>The greedy bring ruin to their households,</t> <t>but the one who hates bribes will live. <pb/></t>
  28. 28<t>The heart of the righteous weighs its answers,</t> <t>but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. <pb/></t>
  29. 29<t>The LORD is far from the wicked,</t> <t>but he hears the prayer of the righteous. <pb/></t>
  30. 30<t>Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart,</t> <t>and good news gives health to the bones. <pb/></t>
  31. 31<t>Whoever heeds life-giving correction</t> <t>will be at home among the wise. <pb/></t>
  32. 32<t>Those who disregard discipline despise themselves,</t> <t>but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. <pb/></t>
  33. 33<t>Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD,</t> <t>and humility comes before honor.</t>
