Proverbs 12

  1. 1<pb/><t>Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,</t> <t>but whoever hates correction is stupid. <pb/></t>
  2. 2<t>Good people obtain favor from the LORD,</t> <t>but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes. <pb/></t>
  3. 3<t>No one can be established through wickedness,</t> <t>but the righteous cannot be uprooted. <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown,</t> <t>but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>The plans of the righteous are just,</t> <t>but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. <pb/></t>
  6. 6<t>The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,</t> <t>but the speech of the upright rescues them. <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>The wicked are overthrown and are no more,</t> <t>but the house of the righteous stands firm. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>A person is praised according to their prudence,</t> <t>and one with a warped mind is despised. <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant</t> <t>than pretend to be somebody and have no food. <pb/></t>
  10. 10<t>The righteous care for the needs of their animals,</t> <t>but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. <pb/></t>
  11. 11<t>Those who work their land will have abundant food,</t> <t>but those who chase fantasies have no sense. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers,</t> <t>but the root of the righteous endures. <pb/></t>
  13. 13<t>Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk,</t> <t>and so the innocent escape trouble. <pb/></t>
  14. 14<t>From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things,</t> <t>and the work of their hands brings them reward. <pb/></t>
  15. 15<t>The way of fools seems right to them,</t> <t>but the wise listen to advice. <pb/></t>
  16. 16<t>Fools show their annoyance at once,</t> <t>but the prudent overlook an insult. <pb/></t>
  17. 17<t>An honest witness tells the truth,</t> <t>but a false witness tells lies. <pb/></t>
  18. 18<t>The words of the reckless pierce like swords,</t> <t>but the tongue of the wise brings healing. <pb/></t>
  19. 19<t>Truthful lips endure forever,</t> <t>but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. <pb/></t>
  20. 20<t>Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,</t> <t>but those who promote peace have joy. <pb/></t>
  21. 21<t>No harm overtakes the righteous,</t> <t>but the wicked have their fill of trouble. <pb/></t>
  22. 22<t>The LORD detests lying lips,</t> <t>but he delights in people who are trustworthy. <pb/></t>
  23. 23<t>The prudent keep their knowledge to themselves,</t> <t>but a fool’s heart blurts out folly. <pb/></t>
  24. 24<t>Diligent hands will rule,</t> <t>but laziness ends in forced labor. <pb/></t>
  25. 25<t>Anxiety weighs down the heart,</t> <t>but a kind word cheers it up. <pb/></t>
  26. 26<t>The righteous choose their friends carefully,</t> <t>but the way of the wicked leads them astray. <pb/></t>
  27. 27<t>The lazy do not roast<f>[25]</f> any game,</t> <t>but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt. <pb/></t>
  28. 28<t>In the way of righteousness there is life;</t> <t>along that path is immortality.</t>
