Micah 4

  1. 1<pb/>In the last days <pb/><t>the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established</t> <t>as the highest of the mountains;</t> <t>it will be exalted above the hills,</t> <t>and peoples will stream to it.</t>
  2. 2<pb/>Many nations will come and say, <pb/><t>“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,</t> <t>to the temple of the God of Jacob.</t> <t>He will teach us his ways,</t> <t>so that we may walk in his paths.”</t> <t>The law will go out from Zion,</t> <t>the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.</t>
  3. 3<t>He will judge between many peoples</t> <t>and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.</t> <t>They will beat their swords into plowshares</t> <t>and their spears into pruning hooks.</t> <t>Nation will not take up sword against nation,</t> <t>nor will they train for war anymore.</t>
  4. 4<t>Everyone will sit under their own vine</t> <t>and under their own fig tree,</t> <t>and no one will make them afraid,</t> <t>for the LORD Almighty has spoken.</t>
  5. 5<t>All the nations may walk</t> <t>in the name of their gods,</t> <t>but we will walk in the name of the LORD</t> <t>our God for ever and ever.</t>
  6. 6<t>“In that day,” declares the LORD,</t> <t>“I will gather the lame;</t> <t>I will assemble the exiles</t> <t>and those I have brought to grief.</t>
  7. 7<t>I will make the lame my remnant,</t> <t>those driven away a strong nation.</t> <t>The LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion</t> <t>from that day and forever.</t>
  8. 8<t>As for you, watchtower of the flock,</t> <t>stronghold<f>[9]</f> of Daughter Zion,</t> <t>the former dominion will be restored to you;</t> <t>kingship will come to Daughter Jerusalem.” <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Why do you now cry aloud—</t> <t>have you no king<f>[10]</f>?</t> <t>Has your ruler<f>[11]</f> perished,</t> <t>that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor?</t>
  10. 10<t>Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion,</t> <t>like a woman in labor,</t> <t>for now you must leave the city</t> <t>to camp in the open field.</t> <t>You will go to Babylon;</t> <t>there you will be rescued.</t> <t>There the LORD will redeem you</t> <t>out of the hand of your enemies. <pb/></t>
  11. 11<t>But now many nations</t> <t>are gathered against you.</t> <t>They say, “Let her be defiled,</t> <t>let our eyes gloat over Zion!”</t>
  12. 12<t>But they do not know</t> <t>the thoughts of the LORD;</t> <t>they do not understand his plan,</t> <t>that he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.</t>
  13. 13<t>“Rise and thresh, Daughter Zion,</t> <t>for I will give you horns of iron;</t> <t>I will give you hooves of bronze,</t> <t>and you will break to pieces many nations.”</t> <t>You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the LORD,</t> <t>their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.</t>
