Micah 3

  1. 1<pb/>Then I said, <pb/><t>“Listen, you leaders of Jacob,</t> <t>you rulers of Israel.</t> <t>Should you not embrace justice,</t>
  2. 2<t>you who hate good and love evil;</t> <t>who tear the skin from my people</t> <t>and the flesh from their bones;</t>
  3. 3<t>who eat my people’s flesh,</t> <t>strip off their skin</t> <t>and break their bones in pieces;</t> <t>who chop them up like meat for the pan,</t> <t>like flesh for the pot?” <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>Then they will cry out to the LORD,</t> <t>but he will not answer them.</t> <t>At that time he will hide his face from them</t> <t>because of the evil they have done.</t>
  5. 5<pb/>This is what the LORD says: <pb/><t>“As for the prophets</t> <t>who lead my people astray,</t> <t>they proclaim ‘peace’</t> <t>if they have something to eat,</t> <t>but prepare to wage war against anyone</t> <t>who refuses to feed them.</t>
  6. 6<t>Therefore night will come over you, without visions,</t> <t>and darkness, without divination.</t> <t>The sun will set for the prophets,</t> <t>and the day will go dark for them.</t>
  7. 7<t>The seers will be ashamed</t> <t>and the diviners disgraced.</t> <t>They will all cover their faces</t> <t>because there is no answer from God.”</t>
  8. 8<t>But as for me, I am filled with power,</t> <t>with the Spirit of the LORD,</t> <t>and with justice and might,</t> <t>to declare to Jacob his transgression,</t> <t>to Israel his sin. <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Hear this, you leaders of Jacob,</t> <t>you rulers of Israel,</t> <t>who despise justice</t> <t>and distort all that is right;</t>
  10. 10<t>who build Zion with bloodshed,</t> <t>and Jerusalem with wickedness.</t>
  11. 11<t>Her leaders judge for a bribe,</t> <t>her priests teach for a price,</t> <t>and her prophets tell fortunes for money.</t> <t>Yet they look for the LORD’s support and say,</t> <t>“Is not the LORD among us?</t> <t>No disaster will come upon us.”</t>
  12. 12<t>Therefore because of you,</t> <t>Zion will be plowed like a field,</t> <t>Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble,</t> <t>the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.</t>
