Micah 2
- 1<pb/><t>Woe to those who plan iniquity,</t> <t>to those who plot evil on their beds!</t> <t>At morning’s light they carry it out</t> <t>because it is in their power to do it.</t>
- 2<t>They covet fields and seize them,</t> <t>and houses, and take them.</t> <t>They defraud people of their homes,</t> <t>they rob them of their inheritance.</t>
- 3<pb/>Therefore, the LORD says: <pb/><t>“I am planning disaster against this people,</t> <t>from which you cannot save yourselves.</t> <t>You will no longer walk proudly,</t> <t>for it will be a time of calamity.</t>
- 4<t>In that day people will ridicule you;</t> <t>they will taunt you with this mournful song:</t> <t>‘We are utterly ruined;</t> <t>my people’s possession is divided up.</t> <t>He takes it from me!</t> <t>He assigns our fields to traitors.’ ” <pb/></t>
- 5<t>Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD</t> <t>to divide the land by lot.</t>
- 6<t>“Do not prophesy,” their prophets say.</t> <t>“Do not prophesy about these things;</t> <t>disgrace will not overtake us.”</t>
- 7<t>You descendants of Jacob, should it be said,</t> <t>“Does the LORD become<f>[8]</f> impatient?</t> <t>Does he do such things?” <pb/>“Do not my words do good</t> <t>to the one whose ways are upright?</t>
- 8<t>Lately my people have risen up</t> <t>like an enemy.</t> <t>You strip off the rich robe</t> <t>from those who pass by without a care,</t> <t>like men returning from battle.</t>
- 9<t>You drive the women of my people</t> <t>from their pleasant homes.</t> <t>You take away my blessing</t> <t>from their children forever.</t>
- 10<t>Get up, go away!</t> <t>For this is not your resting place,</t> <t>because it is defiled,</t> <t>it is ruined, beyond all remedy.</t>
- 11<t>If a liar and deceiver comes and says,</t> <t>‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’</t> <t>that would be just the prophet for this people!</t>
- 12<t>“I will surely gather all of you, Jacob;</t> <t>I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel.</t> <t>I will bring them together like sheep in a pen,</t> <t>like a flock in its pasture;</t> <t>the place will throng with people.</t>
- 13<t>The One who breaks open the way will go up before them;</t> <t>they will break through the gate and go out.</t> <t>Their King will pass through before them,</t> <t>the LORD at their head.”</t>
