Psalms 94

  1. 1<pb/><t>The LORD is a God who avenges.</t> <t>O God who avenges, shine forth.</t>
  2. 2<t>Rise up, Judge of the earth;</t> <t>pay back to the proud what they deserve.</t>
  3. 3<t>How long, LORD, will the wicked,</t> <t>how long will the wicked be jubilant? <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>They pour out arrogant words;</t> <t>all the evildoers are full of boasting.</t>
  5. 5<t>They crush your people, LORD;</t> <t>they oppress your inheritance.</t>
  6. 6<t>They slay the widow and the foreigner;</t> <t>they murder the fatherless.</t>
  7. 7<t>They say, “The LORD does not see;</t> <t>the God of Jacob takes no notice.” <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;</t> <t>you fools, when will you become wise?</t>
  9. 9<t>Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?</t> <t>Does he who formed the eye not see?</t>
  10. 10<t>Does he who disciplines nations not punish?</t> <t>Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?</t>
  11. 11<t>The LORD knows all human plans;</t> <t>he knows that they are futile. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>Blessed is the one you discipline, LORD,</t> <t>the one you teach from your law;</t>
  13. 13<t>you grant them relief from days of trouble,</t> <t>till a pit is dug for the wicked.</t>
  14. 14<t>For the LORD will not reject his people;</t> <t>he will never forsake his inheritance.</t>
  15. 15<t>Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,</t> <t>and all the upright in heart will follow it. <pb/></t>
  16. 16<t>Who will rise up for me against the wicked?</t> <t>Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?</t>
  17. 17<t>Unless the LORD had given me help,</t> <t>I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.</t>
  18. 18<t>When I said, “My foot is slipping,”</t> <t>your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.</t>
  19. 19<t>When anxiety was great within me,</t> <t>your consolation brought me joy. <pb/></t>
  20. 20<t>Can a corrupt throne be allied with you—</t> <t>a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?</t>
  21. 21<t>The wicked band together against the righteous</t> <t>and condemn the innocent to death.</t>
  22. 22<t>But the LORD has become my fortress,</t> <t>and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.</t>
  23. 23<t>He will repay them for their sins</t> <t>and destroy them for their wickedness;</t> <t>the LORD our God will destroy them.</t>
