Psalms 86

  1. 1<pb/><e>A prayer of David.</e> <pb/><t>Hear me, LORD, and answer me,</t> <t>for I am poor and needy.</t>
  2. 2<t>Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;</t> <t>save your servant who trusts in you.</t> <t>You are my God;</t>
  3. 3<t>have mercy on me, Lord,</t> <t>for I call to you all day long.</t>
  4. 4<t>Bring joy to your servant, Lord,</t> <t>for I put my trust in you. <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>You, Lord, are forgiving and good,</t> <t>abounding in love to all who call to you.</t>
  6. 6<t>Hear my prayer, LORD;</t> <t>listen to my cry for mercy.</t>
  7. 7<t>When I am in distress, I call to you,</t> <t>because you answer me. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;</t> <t>no deeds can compare with yours.</t>
  9. 9<t>All the nations you have made</t> <t>will come and worship before you, Lord;</t> <t>they will bring glory to your name.</t>
  10. 10<t>For you are great and do marvelous deeds;</t> <t>you alone are God. <pb/></t>
  11. 11<t>Teach me your way, LORD,</t> <t>that I may rely on your faithfulness;</t> <t>give me an undivided heart,</t> <t>that I may fear your name.</t>
  12. 12<t>I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;</t> <t>I will glorify your name forever.</t>
  13. 13<t>For great is your love toward me;</t> <t>you have delivered me from the depths,</t> <t>from the realm of the dead. <pb/></t>
  14. 14<t>Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God;</t> <t>ruthless people are trying to kill me—</t> <t>they have no regard for you.</t>
  15. 15<t>But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,</t> <t>slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.</t>
  16. 16<t>Turn to me and have mercy on me;</t> <t>show your strength in behalf of your servant;</t> <t>save me, because I serve you</t> <t>just as my mother did.</t>
  17. 17<t>Give me a sign of your goodness,</t> <t>that my enemies may see it and be put to shame,</t> <t>for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.</t>
