Psalms 82
- 1<pb/><e>A psalm of Asaph.</e> <pb/><t>God presides in the great assembly;</t> <t>he renders judgment among the “gods”: <pb/></t>
- 2<t>“How long will you<f>[153]</f> defend the unjust</t> <t>and show partiality to the wicked?<f>[154]</f></t>
- 3<t>Defend the weak and the fatherless;</t> <t>uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.</t>
- 4<t>Rescue the weak and the needy;</t> <t>deliver them from the hand of the wicked. <pb/></t>
- 5<t>“The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.</t> <t>They walk about in darkness;</t> <t>all the foundations of the earth are shaken. <pb/></t>
- 6<t>“I said, ‘You are “gods”;</t> <t>you are all sons of the Most High.’</t>
- 7<t>But you will die like mere mortals;</t> <t>you will fall like every other ruler.” <pb/></t>
- 8<t>Rise up, O God, judge the earth,</t> <t>for all the nations are your inheritance.</t>
