Psalms 76
- 1<pb/><e>For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.</e> <pb/><t>God is renowned in Judah;</t> <t>in Israel his name is great.</t>
- 2<t>His tent is in Salem,</t> <t>his dwelling place in Zion.</t>
- 3<t>There he broke the flashing arrows,</t> <t>the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.<f>[143]</f> <pb/></t>
- 4<t>You are radiant with light,</t> <t>more majestic than mountains rich with game.</t>
- 5<t>The valiant lie plundered,</t> <t>they sleep their last sleep;</t> <t>not one of the warriors</t> <t>can lift his hands.</t>
- 6<t>At your rebuke, God of Jacob,</t> <t>both horse and chariot lie still. <pb/></t>
- 7<t>It is you alone who are to be feared.</t> <t>Who can stand before you when you are angry?</t>
- 8<t>From heaven you pronounced judgment,</t> <t>and the land feared and was quiet—</t>
- 9<t>when you, God, rose up to judge,</t> <t>to save all the afflicted of the land.</t>
- 10<t>Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,</t> <t>and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.<f>[144]</f> <pb/></t>
- 11<t>Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;</t> <t>let all the neighboring lands</t> <t>bring gifts to the One to be feared.</t>
- 12<t>He breaks the spirit of rulers;</t> <t>he is feared by the kings of the earth.</t>
