Psalms 71

  1. 1<pb/><t>In you, LORD, I have taken refuge;</t> <t>let me never be put to shame.</t>
  2. 2<t>In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;</t> <t>turn your ear to me and save me.</t>
  3. 3<t>Be my rock of refuge,</t> <t>to which I can always go;</t> <t>give the command to save me,</t> <t>for you are my rock and my fortress.</t>
  4. 4<t>Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,</t> <t>from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel. <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD,</t> <t>my confidence since my youth.</t>
  6. 6<t>From birth I have relied on you;</t> <t>you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.</t> <t>I will ever praise you.</t>
  7. 7<t>I have become a sign to many;</t> <t>you are my strong refuge.</t>
  8. 8<t>My mouth is filled with your praise,</t> <t>declaring your splendor all day long. <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Do not cast me away when I am old;</t> <t>do not forsake me when my strength is gone.</t>
  10. 10<t>For my enemies speak against me;</t> <t>those who wait to kill me conspire together.</t>
  11. 11<t>They say, “God has forsaken him;</t> <t>pursue him and seize him,</t> <t>for no one will rescue him.”</t>
  12. 12<t>Do not be far from me, my God;</t> <t>come quickly, God, to help me.</t>
  13. 13<t>May my accusers perish in shame;</t> <t>may those who want to harm me</t> <t>be covered with scorn and disgrace. <pb/></t>
  14. 14<t>As for me, I will always have hope;</t> <t>I will praise you more and more. <pb/></t>
  15. 15<t>My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds,</t> <t>of your saving acts all day long—</t> <t>though I know not how to relate them all.</t>
  16. 16<t>I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD;</t> <t>I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.</t>
  17. 17<t>Since my youth, God, you have taught me,</t> <t>and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.</t>
  18. 18<t>Even when I am old and gray,</t> <t>do not forsake me, my God,</t> <t>till I declare your power to the next generation,</t> <t>your mighty acts to all who are to come. <pb/></t>
  19. 19<t>Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens,</t> <t>you who have done great things.</t> <t>Who is like you, God?</t>
  20. 20<t>Though you have made me see troubles,</t> <t>many and bitter,</t> <t>you will restore my life again;</t> <t>from the depths of the earth</t> <t>you will again bring me up.</t>
  21. 21<t>You will increase my honor</t> <t>and comfort me once more. <pb/></t>
  22. 22<t>I will praise you with the harp</t> <t>for your faithfulness, my God;</t> <t>I will sing praise to you with the lyre,</t> <t>Holy One of Israel.</t>
  23. 23<t>My lips will shout for joy</t> <t>when I sing praise to you—</t> <t>I whom you have delivered.</t>
  24. 24<t>My tongue will tell of your righteous acts</t> <t>all day long,</t> <t>for those who wanted to harm me</t> <t>have been put to shame and confusion.</t>
