Psalms 48

  1. 1<pb/><e>A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah.</e> <pb/><t>Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise,</t> <t>in the city of our God, his holy mountain. <pb/></t>
  2. 2<t>Beautiful in its loftiness,</t> <t>the joy of the whole earth,</t> <t>like the heights of Zaphon<f>[81]</f> is Mount Zion,</t> <t>the city of the Great King.</t>
  3. 3<t>God is in her citadels;</t> <t>he has shown himself to be her fortress. <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>When the kings joined forces,</t> <t>when they advanced together,</t>
  5. 5<t>they saw her and were astounded;</t> <t>they fled in terror.</t>
  6. 6<t>Trembling seized them there,</t> <t>pain like that of a woman in labor.</t>
  7. 7<t>You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish</t> <t>shattered by an east wind. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>As we have heard,</t> <t>so we have seen</t> <t>in the city of the LORD Almighty,</t> <t>in the city of our God:</t> <t>God makes her secure</t> <t>forever.<f>[82]</f> <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Within your temple, O God,</t> <t>we meditate on your unfailing love.</t>
  10. 10<t>Like your name, O God,</t> <t>your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;</t> <t>your right hand is filled with righteousness.</t>
  11. 11<t>Mount Zion rejoices,</t> <t>the villages of Judah are glad</t> <t>because of your judgments. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>Walk about Zion, go around her,</t> <t>count her towers,</t>
  13. 13<t>consider well her ramparts,</t> <t>view her citadels,</t> <t>that you may tell of them</t> <t>to the next generation. <pb/></t>
  14. 14<t>For this God is our God for ever and ever;</t> <t>he will be our guide even to the end.</t>
