Psalms 147

  1. 1<pb/><t>Praise the LORD.<f>[229]</f> <pb/>How good it is to sing praises to our God,</t> <t>how pleasant and fitting to praise him! <pb/></t>
  2. 2<t>The LORD builds up Jerusalem;</t> <t>he gathers the exiles of Israel.</t>
  3. 3<t>He heals the brokenhearted</t> <t>and binds up their wounds.</t>
  4. 4<t>He determines the number of the stars</t> <t>and calls them each by name.</t>
  5. 5<t>Great is our Lord and mighty in power;</t> <t>his understanding has no limit.</t>
  6. 6<t>The LORD sustains the humble</t> <t>but casts the wicked to the ground. <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>Sing to the LORD with grateful praise;</t> <t>make music to our God on the harp. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>He covers the sky with clouds;</t> <t>he supplies the earth with rain</t> <t>and makes grass grow on the hills.</t>
  9. 9<t>He provides food for the cattle</t> <t>and for the young ravens when they call. <pb/></t>
  10. 10<t>His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,</t> <t>nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;</t>
  11. 11<t>the LORD delights in those who fear him,</t> <t>who put their hope in his unfailing love. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>Extol the LORD, Jerusalem;</t> <t>praise your God, Zion. <pb/></t>
  13. 13<t>He strengthens the bars of your gates</t> <t>and blesses your people within you.</t>
  14. 14<t>He grants peace to your borders</t> <t>and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. <pb/></t>
  15. 15<t>He sends his command to the earth;</t> <t>his word runs swiftly.</t>
  16. 16<t>He spreads the snow like wool</t> <t>and scatters the frost like ashes.</t>
  17. 17<t>He hurls down his hail like pebbles.</t> <t>Who can withstand his icy blast?</t>
  18. 18<t>He sends his word and melts them;</t> <t>he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. <pb/></t>
  19. 19<t>He has revealed his word to Jacob,</t> <t>his laws and decrees to Israel.</t>
  20. 20<t>He has done this for no other nation;</t> <t>they do not know his laws.<f>[230]</f> <pb/>Praise the LORD.</t>
