Psalms 12
- 1<pb/><e>For the director of music. According to sheminith.</e><f>[20]</f> A psalm of David. <pb/><t>Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore;</t> <t>those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.</t>
- 2<t>Everyone lies to their neighbor;</t> <t>they flatter with their lips</t> <t>but harbor deception in their hearts. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>May the LORD silence all flattering lips</t> <t>and every boastful tongue—</t>
- 4<t>those who say,</t> <t>“By our tongues we will prevail;</t> <t>our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?” <pb/></t>
- 5<t>“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,</t> <t>I will now arise,” says the LORD.</t> <t>“I will protect them from those who malign them.”</t>
- 6<t>And the words of the LORD are flawless,</t> <t>like silver purified in a crucible,</t> <t>like gold<f>[21]</f> refined seven times. <pb/></t>
- 7<t>You, LORD, will keep the needy safe</t> <t>and will protect us forever from the wicked,</t>
- 8<t>who freely strut about</t> <t>when what is vile is honored by the human race.</t>
