Psalms 118
- 1<pb/><t>Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;</t> <t>his love endures forever. <pb/></t>
- 2<t>Let Israel say:</t> <t>“His love endures forever.”</t>
- 3<t>Let the house of Aaron say:</t> <t>“His love endures forever.”</t>
- 4<t>Let those who fear the LORD say:</t> <t>“His love endures forever.” <pb/></t>
- 5<t>When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD;</t> <t>he brought me into a spacious place.</t>
- 6<t>The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.</t> <t>What can mere mortals do to me?</t>
- 7<t>The LORD is with me; he is my helper.</t> <t>I look in triumph on my enemies. <pb/></t>
- 8<t>It is better to take refuge in the LORD</t> <t>than to trust in humans.</t>
- 9<t>It is better to take refuge in the LORD</t> <t>than to trust in princes.</t>
- 10<t>All the nations surrounded me,</t> <t>but in the name of the LORD I cut them down.</t>
- 11<t>They surrounded me on every side,</t> <t>but in the name of the LORD I cut them down.</t>
- 12<t>They swarmed around me like bees,</t> <t>but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;</t> <t>in the name of the LORD I cut them down.</t>
- 13<t>I was pushed back and about to fall,</t> <t>but the LORD helped me.</t>
- 14<t>The LORD is my strength and my defense<f>[206]</f>;</t> <t>he has become my salvation. <pb/></t>
- 15<t>Shouts of joy and victory</t> <t>resound in the tents of the righteous:</t> <t>“The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!</t>
- 16<t>The LORD’s right hand is lifted high;</t> <t>the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!”</t>
- 17<t>I will not die but live,</t> <t>and will proclaim what the LORD has done.</t>
- 18<t>The LORD has chastened me severely,</t> <t>but he has not given me over to death.</t>
- 19<t>Open for me the gates of the righteous;</t> <t>I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.</t>
- 20<t>This is the gate of the LORD</t> <t>through which the righteous may enter.</t>
- 21<t>I will give you thanks, for you answered me;</t> <t>you have become my salvation. <pb/></t>
- 22<t>The stone the builders rejected</t> <t>has become the cornerstone;</t>
- 23<t>the LORD has done this,</t> <t>and it is marvelous in our eyes.</t>
- 24<t>The LORD has done it this very day;</t> <t>let us rejoice today and be glad. <pb/></t>
- 25<t>LORD, save us!</t> <t>LORD, grant us success! <pb/></t>
- 26<t>Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.</t> <t>From the house of the LORD we bless you.<f>[207]</f></t>
- 27<t>The LORD is God,</t> <t>and he has made his light shine on us.</t> <t>With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession</t> <t>up<f>[208]</f> to the horns of the altar. <pb/></t>
