Psalms 116

  1. 1<pb/><t>I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;</t> <t>he heard my cry for mercy.</t>
  2. 2<t>Because he turned his ear to me,</t> <t>I will call on him as long as I live. <pb/></t>
  3. 3<t>The cords of death entangled me,</t> <t>the anguish of the grave came over me;</t> <t>I was overcome by distress and sorrow.</t>
  4. 4<t>Then I called on the name of the LORD:</t> <t>“LORD, save me!” <pb/></t>
  5. 5<t>The LORD is gracious and righteous;</t> <t>our God is full of compassion.</t>
  6. 6<t>The LORD protects the unwary;</t> <t>when I was brought low, he saved me. <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>Return to your rest, my soul,</t> <t>for the LORD has been good to you. <pb/></t>
  8. 8<t>For you, LORD, have delivered me from death,</t> <t>my eyes from tears,</t> <t>my feet from stumbling,</t>
  9. 9<t>that I may walk before the LORD</t> <t>in the land of the living. <pb/></t>
  10. 10<t>I trusted in the LORD when I said,</t> <t>“I am greatly afflicted”;</t>
  11. 11<t>in my alarm I said,</t> <t>“Everyone is a liar.” <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>What shall I return to the LORD</t> <t>for all his goodness to me? <pb/></t>
  13. 13<t>I will lift up the cup of salvation</t> <t>and call on the name of the LORD.</t>
  14. 14<t>I will fulfill my vows to the LORD</t> <t>in the presence of all his people. <pb/></t>
  15. 15<t>Precious in the sight of the LORD</t> <t>is the death of his faithful servants.</t>
  16. 16<t>Truly I am your servant, LORD;</t> <t>I serve you just as my mother did;</t> <t>you have freed me from my chains. <pb/></t>
  17. 17<t>I will sacrifice a thank offering to you</t> <t>and call on the name of the LORD.</t>
  18. 18<t>I will fulfill my vows to the LORD</t> <t>in the presence of all his people,</t>
