Proverbs 2

  1. 1<pb/><t>My son, if you accept my words</t> <t>and store up my commands within you,</t>
  2. 2<t>turning your ear to wisdom</t> <t>and applying your heart to understanding—</t>
  3. 3<t>indeed, if you call out for insight</t> <t>and cry aloud for understanding,</t>
  4. 4<t>and if you look for it as for silver</t> <t>and search for it as for hidden treasure,</t>
  5. 5<t>then you will understand the fear of the LORD</t> <t>and find the knowledge of God.</t>
  6. 6<t>For the LORD gives wisdom;</t> <t>from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.</t>
  7. 7<t>He holds success in store for the upright,</t> <t>he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,</t>
  8. 8<t>for he guards the course of the just</t> <t>and protects the way of his faithful ones. <pb/></t>
  9. 9<t>Then you will understand what is right and just</t> <t>and fair—every good path.</t>
  10. 10<t>For wisdom will enter your heart,</t> <t>and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.</t>
  11. 11<t>Discretion will protect you,</t> <t>and understanding will guard you. <pb/></t>
  12. 12<t>Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,</t> <t>from men whose words are perverse,</t>
  13. 13<t>who have left the straight paths</t> <t>to walk in dark ways,</t>
  14. 14<t>who delight in doing wrong</t> <t>and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,</t>
  15. 15<t>whose paths are crooked</t> <t>and who are devious in their ways. <pb/></t>
  16. 16<t>Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,</t> <t>from the wayward woman with her seductive words,</t>
  17. 17<t>who has left the partner of her youth</t> <t>and ignored the covenant she made before God.<f>[5]</f></t>
  18. 18<t>Surely her house leads down to death</t> <t>and her paths to the spirits of the dead.</t>
  19. 19<t>None who go to her return</t> <t>or attain the paths of life. <pb/></t>
  20. 20<t>Thus you will walk in the ways of the good</t> <t>and keep to the paths of the righteous.</t>
  21. 21<t>For the upright will live in the land,</t> <t>and the blameless will remain in it;</t>
  22. 22<t>but the wicked will be cut off from the land,</t> <t>and the unfaithful will be torn from it.</t>
