Proverbs 10
- 1<pb/>The proverbs of Solomon: <pb/><t>A wise son brings joy to his father,</t> <t>but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. <pb/></t>
- 2<t>Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value,</t> <t>but righteousness delivers from death. <pb/></t>
- 3<t>The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry,</t> <t>but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. <pb/></t>
- 4<t>Lazy hands make for poverty,</t> <t>but diligent hands bring wealth. <pb/></t>
- 5<t>He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son,</t> <t>but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. <pb/></t>
- 6<t>Blessings crown the head of the righteous,</t> <t>but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.<f>[22]</f> <pb/></t>
- 7<t>The name of the righteous is used in blessings,<f>[23]</f></t> <t>but the name of the wicked will rot. <pb/></t>
- 8<t>The wise in heart accept commands,</t> <t>but a chattering fool comes to ruin. <pb/></t>
- 9<t>Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,</t> <t>but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. <pb/></t>
- 10<t>Whoever winks maliciously causes grief,</t> <t>and a chattering fool comes to ruin. <pb/></t>
- 11<t>The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,</t> <t>but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. <pb/></t>
- 12<t>Hatred stirs up conflict,</t> <t>but love covers over all wrongs. <pb/></t>
- 13<t>Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning,</t> <t>but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense. <pb/></t>
- 14<t>The wise store up knowledge,</t> <t>but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. <pb/></t>
- 15<t>The wealth of the rich is their fortified city,</t> <t>but poverty is the ruin of the poor. <pb/></t>
- 16<t>The wages of the righteous is life,</t> <t>but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death. <pb/></t>
- 17<t>Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,</t> <t>but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. <pb/></t>
- 18<t>Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips</t> <t>and spreads slander is a fool. <pb/></t>
- 19<t>Sin is not ended by multiplying words,</t> <t>but the prudent hold their tongues. <pb/></t>
- 20<t>The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,</t> <t>but the heart of the wicked is of little value. <pb/></t>
- 21<t>The lips of the righteous nourish many,</t> <t>but fools die for lack of sense. <pb/></t>
- 22<t>The blessing of the LORD brings wealth,</t> <t>without painful toil for it. <pb/></t>
- 23<t>A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes,</t> <t>but a person of understanding delights in wisdom. <pb/></t>
- 24<t>What the wicked dread will overtake them;</t> <t>what the righteous desire will be granted. <pb/></t>
- 25<t>When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone,</t> <t>but the righteous stand firm forever. <pb/></t>
- 26<t>As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,</t> <t>so are sluggards to those who send them. <pb/></t>
- 27<t>The fear of the LORD adds length to life,</t> <t>but the years of the wicked are cut short. <pb/></t>
- 28<t>The prospect of the righteous is joy,</t> <t>but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. <pb/></t>
- 29<t>The way of the LORD is a refuge for the blameless,</t> <t>but it is the ruin of those who do evil. <pb/></t>
- 30<t>The righteous will never be uprooted,</t> <t>but the wicked will not remain in the land. <pb/></t>
- 31<t>From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom,</t> <t>but a perverse tongue will be silenced. <pb/></t>
- 32<t>The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,</t> <t>but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.</t>
