Isaiah 52

  1. 1<pb/><t>Awake, awake, Zion,</t> <t>clothe yourself with strength!</t> <t>Put on your garments of splendor,</t> <t>Jerusalem, the holy city.</t> <t>The uncircumcised and defiled</t> <t>will not enter you again.</t>
  2. 2<t>Shake off your dust;</t> <t>rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.</t> <t>Free yourself from the chains on your neck,</t> <t>Daughter Zion, now a captive.</t>
  3. 3<pb/>For this is what the LORD says: <pb/><t>“You were sold for nothing,</t> <t>and without money you will be redeemed.”</t>
  4. 4<pb/>For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: <pb/><t>“At first my people went down to Egypt to live;</t> <t>lately, Assyria has oppressed them.</t>
  5. 5<pb/>“And now what do I have here?” declares the LORD. <pb/><t>“For my people have been taken away for nothing,</t> <t>and those who rule them mock,<f>[97]</f>”</t> <t>declares the LORD.</t> <t>“And all day long</t> <t>my name is constantly blasphemed.</t>
  6. 6<t>Therefore my people will know my name;</t> <t>therefore in that day they will know</t> <t>that it is I who foretold it.</t> <t>Yes, it is I.” <pb/></t>
  7. 7<t>How beautiful on the mountains</t> <t>are the feet of those who bring good news,</t> <t>who proclaim peace,</t> <t>who bring good tidings,</t> <t>who proclaim salvation,</t> <t>who say to Zion,</t> <t>“Your God reigns!”</t>
  8. 8<t>Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;</t> <t>together they shout for joy.</t> <t>When the LORD returns to Zion,</t> <t>they will see it with their own eyes.</t>
  9. 9<t>Burst into songs of joy together,</t> <t>you ruins of Jerusalem,</t> <t>for the LORD has comforted his people,</t> <t>he has redeemed Jerusalem.</t>
  10. 10<t>The LORD will lay bare his holy arm</t> <t>in the sight of all the nations,</t> <t>and all the ends of the earth will see</t> <t>the salvation of our God. <pb/></t>
  11. 11<t>Depart, depart, go out from there!</t> <t>Touch no unclean thing!</t> <t>Come out from it and be pure,</t> <t>you who carry the articles of the LORD’s house.</t>
  12. 12<t>But you will not leave in haste</t> <t>or go in flight;</t> <t>for the LORD will go before you,</t> <t>the God of Israel will be your rear guard.</t>
  13. 13<t>See, my servant will act wisely<f>[98]</f>;</t> <t>he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.</t>
  14. 14<t>Just as there were many who were appalled at him<f>[99]</f>—</t> <t>his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being</t> <t>and his form marred beyond human likeness—</t>
  15. 15<t>so he will sprinkle many nations,<f>[100]</f></t> <t>and kings will shut their mouths because of him.</t> <t>For what they were not told, they will see,</t> <t>and what they have not heard, they will understand.</t>
