Hosea 6

  1. 1<pb/><t>“Come, let us return to the LORD.</t> <t>He has torn us to pieces</t> <t>but he will heal us;</t> <t>he has injured us</t> <t>but he will bind up our wounds.</t>
  2. 2<t>After two days he will revive us;</t> <t>on the third day he will restore us,</t> <t>that we may live in his presence.</t>
  3. 3<t>Let us acknowledge the LORD;</t> <t>let us press on to acknowledge him.</t> <t>As surely as the sun rises,</t> <t>he will appear;</t> <t>he will come to us like the winter rains,</t> <t>like the spring rains that water the earth.” <pb/></t>
  4. 4<t>“What can I do with you, Ephraim?</t> <t>What can I do with you, Judah?</t> <t>Your love is like the morning mist,</t> <t>like the early dew that disappears.</t>
  5. 5<t>Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets,</t> <t>I killed you with the words of my mouth—</t> <t>then my judgments go forth like the sun.<f>[21]</f></t>
  6. 6<t>For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,</t> <t>and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.</t>
  7. 7<t>As at Adam,<f>[22]</f> they have broken the covenant;</t> <t>they were unfaithful to me there.</t>
  8. 8<t>Gilead is a city of evildoers,</t> <t>stained with footprints of blood.</t>
  9. 9<t>As marauders lie in ambush for a victim,</t> <t>so do bands of priests;</t> <t>they murder on the road to Shechem,</t> <t>carrying out their wicked schemes.</t>
  10. 10<t>I have seen a horrible thing in Israel:</t> <t>There Ephraim is given to prostitution,</t> <t>Israel is defiled. <pb/></t>
  11. 11<t>“Also for you, Judah,</t> <t>a harvest is appointed. <pb/>“Whenever I would restore the fortunes of my people,</t>
